The 2026-04-13 build of Raspberry Pi OS, the Debian-based distribution for Raspberry Pi computers, is a security-oriented update. Beyond the usual bug fixes and package bumps, the release disables the passwordless sudo that earlier images shipped with, closing a long-standing convenience-vs-security gap on default installs.
The image also updates the Chromium browser, adds a graphical front-end for printer configuration, and bundles PulseAudio control software. Builds are available for both 32-bit and 64-bit Pi hardware, including full, desktop and lite variants.
Makers running older images should treat this as a recommended update: anyone exposing a Pi on a network, or using it as a server, benefits from the tighter default sudo policy. Update through the standard apt upgrade path or flash a fresh image.
